Hi! My name is Donald Caldwell. I am a member of Liberty Baptist Church and I would like to share my testimony with you.

Back in 1980, a member of Liberty, Ted Collins, would come by the house and invite my wife and me to church. My wife went to church first and got saved. One Wednesday night I came home from work and my wife was gone to church. When she got home that night I told her that I would go to church with her that Sunday and I did.

That Sunday, the pastor was gone and Brother Oden Lockhart, The Old Time Preacher Man, was filling in for him. He started preaching on sin and I knew what he was talking about because I knew how to sin -- that came natural. But when he started talking about the love of Jesus and how He died on the cross to pay our sin debt for us so we could go to Heaven...I did not know what he was talking about because I had never been to church or read the Bible or anything.

When Brother Lockhart gave the invitation I was under great conviction of my sin and I did not know what to do. I was gripping the back of the chair in front of me. When he was standing up there motioning to come on, it was as if Jesus Himself was up there. I could not take it any longer so I said, Lord, I don't know anything about church or the Bible, but I do know that you are calling me and I am coming." I went down to the altar and fell on my knees and prayed for God to have mercy on my soul and He did. When I came up, I was a new creature in Christ.

I wanted everyone to get saved, so I started going through the neighborhood inviting people to go to church with my wife and me. We filled our car up with people so I started figuring how I could bring more people. So I traded our car for a van and we filled the van up. We were bringing 15 to 20 adults to church in our van. Sometimes the tires would be scrubbing. That's how I got started in the bus ministry.

I got with Brother Jim Parsell and we started filling up big buses then. God gave me a love and burden for these bus children and moms and dads. We know that there is a better life for them if they get saved. We have some bus riders that have become Preachers, Choir members, Sunday School Teachers, Bus Captains, Bus Workers, and faithful church members. Only in Heaven will we really know all the lives that have been touched through the Bus Ministry.

I thank God for a pastor that loves the bus ministry. And I thank God for all the bus workers that I have had the privilege of working with these many years. I believe God has blessed our church because of the bus ministry. And if I could only say one thing to the bus workers it would be this: We have way too much invested in the bus ministry to quit now. So keep on busing them in till Jesus comes. I would not take anything for my Christian walk now, because I am closer home now that I have ever been before. Amen.
